EDUCATION:

Phase out Indiana’s Choice Scholarship Program

Phasing out the program over the next 4 years will allow entering freshman to finish out their high school career where they start and give families time to plan for the cost of private school should they continue to choose that route, while increasing revenue to public schools.

With the phase out of the voucher program, a phase in of an across the board increase for teacher salaries would occur. A base salary increase of $1875 annually would occur each year over those 4 years for a total of a $7500 base salary increase annually for every Indiana public school teacher.

HEALTHCARE:

Amend IC 27-13-36.2-1 (Indiana’s Clean Claim law)

Presently this law gives insurance companies 30 days to pay or deny a clean claim. I would propose an amendment to this law that only gives 14 calendar days to pay a clean claim. I would also propose an additional section to this law regarding denial of payment for clean claims as well as recoupments that would prevent denial of payment for all rendered services that have a prior authorization and impose a 7% daily compounded interest onto the allowed amount for any denied claims that are later overturned in dispute or appeals. The amendment would also focus on recoupments not being able to to occur without a full audit of any claims in question and providers being given the opportunity to ameliorate any noted documentation issues on a first offense unless the insurance company provides standardized documentation and examples for every single bill code utilized.

INFRASTRUCTURE:

Fix our disastrous roads!

I would challenge Indiana legislators to place more emphasis and financial support to our roads and bridges through drainage expansion, more durable patching methods, and utilization of technology to catch structural weaknesses to repair them before they become problematic. I would also challenge Indiana legislators to require 100% union labor and contracts for all infrastructure upgrades, repairs, and new builds.

MARIJUANA/HEMP LEGALIZATION AND REGULATION:

Give Hoosiers that Green

I will compose and support legislation that legalizes, regulates, and taxes marijuana, hemp, and THC products. The additional tax revenue would provide additional support for infrastructure and other necessary social programs. Limiting sales to standalone licensed retailers, limiting high potency products for medical use only with a valid prescription, and ensuring that only quality products are being sold is vital. I would also repeal any present legislation that prevents Indiana Farmers from legally growing hemp so that they would be able to benefit from legalized products in Indiana.
